Welcome back everyone 😊 I hope you enjoyed reading and learning about my breastfeeding journey thus far. Today, I wanted to share tips, tricks, and items that I have learned to love over the past 5 months.
By far, the best decision I made was having a lactation consultant established prior to birth. When problems arise in breastfeeding you want help immediately (I did at least). Having a relationship with someone who you can have on speed dial and know you will be comfortable feeding in front of is invaluable.
While on maternity leave, these items were my go to’s for nursing and nursing recovery:
• 64 oz water bottle (amazons quifit) 💦
o I also like the lower sugar body armour drinks, coconut water
• My breastfriend breastfeeding pillow
• Coconut oil for my nipples
• Audible membership
o Or podcast. Something you can listen to while baby feeds
• Foam roller for stretching
• Lactation balls for a quick snack
• Frozen prepped meals
For pumping my favorites include:
• Pumping pal phalanges
o Worth the investment! Made pumping 1000x more comfortable
• Fine point sharpies to write on milk bags
• Reliable cooler to store milk
• Medela wipes for on the go supply cleaning
• Kindred braverly pumping bras
o I tried cheaper ones off amazon and they were not comfortable for all day wear. Once I bit the bullet on these I was SO HAPPY. Extremely comfortable and hold up well.
Then my last favorite item: GRACE. Give yourself grace mama. As I am writing this, I am five months in. Somedays are a dream. Others I despise my pump or get upset if Reece wont focus to eat. Stressing will not help the situation. Build your support system and lean on them!
